Note Samuel Clarke (1675-1729) is described in the Dictionary of National Biography as a metaphysician. His collected works were published in 1730
The author of these lectures attacks Clarke's ideas. The author is clearly a supporter of `the argument from design' theological standpoint. It is possible that the author was W Paley, who published "Principles of Morals and Political Philosophy" in 1794
