    Eliza Knight: wife of Arthur Knight, a labourer of Harrold. They keep fowls. She fastened them up in the roost about 5.30pm and locked them in. The next day at about 2pm she went to the hen house and found the lock hanging unfastened. She counted to fowls and found 4 missing. The fowls could get out of the hen house as there was a hole in the door. William Harry Woodward: a boy of 13 years living with his father in Bedford. He was with his brother, the prisoner John Woodward, in the Crescent in Bedford at 12 noon. The prisoner, Henry Price came to them and asked if they would go for a drive with him. They went and found the prisoner and went with him in his van. The prisoner drove them to Clapham, Milton Ernest, Radwell, Felmersham, Odell, Bozeat and back again to Little Odell where they arrived at about 7pm. The prisoner, Henry price saw a hen house and gave the prisoner, John Woodward, a sack and told them to go and get some hens out of it. He and his brother went in and got 4 hens. There was a lock on the door but it was unfastened. They put the hens in the sack and gave it to the prisoner, Price, who put them in his van. They then drove away. Joseph Hebbes: police constable of Pavenham. At about 10pm he was on duty in Milton Ernest. From information he received he went towards Mr Andrew's farm in Milton Ernest. He saw the prisoner, Price, in his van coming from the side of the road. He stopped the prisoner, Price, and told him he wanted to search the van. He found a bag which contained 4 fowls. The prisoner, Price, said that he had bought the fowls from a man 3-4 miles beyond Felmersham. He took the prisoner, Price, to Sharnbrook and charged him with stealing the 4 fowls in conjunction with the prisoner, John Woodward. The prisoner, Price, said that he did not steal them and that it was the Woodward brothers who had taken the fowls and put them in his van. Henry Price: greengrocer of Bedford.
