    [Deeds given in slightly diffrent order than they appear in the abstract]. 1 and 2 March 1836: Lease and release a) Rev William Greenhill; b) Rev James Wadman Alexander and wife Caroline (formerly Caroline Greenhill, spinster); c) Thomas Gwyn Elger, Bedford, merchant and surveyor, John Elger, South Street, Grosvenor Square, Middlesex, builder. Dragon or Green Dragon etc in St Paul's parish, and 9 acres ground adjoining, upon trust to use of Elgers as joint tenants. 19 and 20 May 1840: Lease and release i) Thomas Gwyn Elger, John Elger; ii) William Maxey, Bedford, carpenter; iii) Ebenezer Burr, Bedford, grocer. Consideration £120. i) release to ii): ground with carpenter's shop etc recently erected on it (part of above piece of ground), east Edward Masters, south Charles Maxey and i), north and west Greenhill and Gwyn Streets. Subject to proportionate payment of 2 annual rents of £1 4s and £1 16s charged on them, but entitled to benefit on deed on 4 Mar 1836 between George Peregrine Nash and i) 21 May 1840: Mortgage A) William Maxey; B) Ebenzer Burr. Consideration £120 paid by B) to A) and 5% per annum interest. Property as above. 7 May 1841: Further advance 1) William Maxey; 2) E[benezer] Burr. 1) had erected messuage on said piece of land and had requested 2) to lend him further £180. Premises as above, charged with repayment of said £180 as well as previous £120. As to remaining part of the property: 1 September 1841: Release I) John Elger and wife Catherine; II) Isaac Elger, surgeon. Property as below conveyed to use of II) 2 January 1843: Appointment aa) John Elger; bb) William Maxey. Consideration £43 10s paid by bb) to aa). aa) appointed piece of ground in St Pauls (part of above), east 22ft 3in Edward Masters, west 22ft 1in John Elger, north 22ft William Maxey, south 47ft 4in John Elger, to such uses as bb) should direct. As to the whole of the property: 16 December 1874: will of William Maxey by which he devised the ground, the subject of this abstract, to his son Charles Maxey (ie dwelling house on east side of Gwyn Street) freed from any mortage 18 December 1874 William Maxey died. 8 Feb 1875 will proved ( Northampton)
