Scope and Content
jurors say that the Biggleswade- Buckden road has been a public highway for 40 years and more; and that Ashley Palmer and John Francklin, both late of Tempsford, esquires, on 24 Dec 1781 destroyed fencing thereon (2 stretches of 20 perches each) from the ferryhouse to Tempsford bridge; and caused horses towing boats to pass that way; that Palmer and Francklin on 1 January 1782 made two banks, each 30 perches x 10 perches, in the Ouse, digging up quantities of stone and earth for this purpose, so that the river is driven with force against the SE. bank
