    John Tingay of Northill – he is a labourer employed by Mr Sandon at Northill. On Thursday 15 June he was at work in his barn at Northiill with James Livit. When Livit went home to dinner about 1pm he tied up a bundle of straw, about ½ cwt, and carried it home to his cottage. Mary, wife of George Shelton of Northill – last Thursday she was sitting in her own upstairs room at Northill. She saw James Livit carrying a large bundle of straw across from Mr Sandon’s premises to his own cottage. She told her husband who told Mr Sandon. Samuel Sandon of Northill, farmer – having been from hom he returned last Thursday evening and was told on Friday that some straw had been taken by Livit. On Saturday morning he went to Livit’s barn and saw a large bundle of straw lying there. He did not give Livit leave to take any. James Livit – he has often asked Mr Sandon for a bundle of straw and he always gave him leave. Mr Sandon gave him leave to have some in the winter and he never had it.
