    Sarah Rogers: one of the wardens at the gaol. The prisoner had been n custody there on another charge. She searched her at the gaol and found on her the books and other things. One book was in her bosom and the other in her pocket. The thread and other articles were sewn in a handkerchief and tied around her waist. The goods belonged to the county. Statement of the accused: when she went in one night to make up her bed, she pulled down the bed and a parcel fell off it. She made up her bed and put the parcel on top of the cupboard until morning. She put the parcel on her bed in the morning and did not open it to see what was in it. She did not say anything about it and swore she would not give anyone any bother.
