    This Deponent of Helen Kimpton on her Oath saith as follows: I am in the service of Capt. Beaumont and reside at Kempston. Capt. Beaumont is a customer of Mrs Chamberlain for bread. The book produced marked E is Capt. Beaumont’s bread book. It is my duty to take in the bread and pay the money for some time past the prisoner Aldridge has brought the bread and received the money for it. On the 22nd Nov I paid the prisoner for bread supplied by him the sum of 4s/10d and saw him write “Paid A. Aldridge” On Nov. 29 I paid the prisoner 5s/71/2. On the 8th last I paid the prisoner 5s/11/2 I saw the prisoner write “Paid cash A. Aldridge” Deponent of Francis Chamberlain. I live at Kempston and am a baker. The prisoner has been in my employment since July 1888 and it has been his duty to deliver bread and receive cash and to enter these deliveries and cash received in his delivery book which he kept for the purpose. The book marked “F” is the one used by the prisoner in the months of Nov. and Dec. 1890. I did not receive any moneys from the prisoner in the months of Nov. and Dec. last on account of Capt. Beaumont. It was the duty of the prisoner to account to me each night for the cash received by him. About a week ago I said “ has Capt. Beaumont paid?” He said “They have not paid me” [Cross examined] The last payment made by Aldridge on Capt. Beaumont’s account was on the 30th Sept. last. On the 29th December lst I received from Mr Beaumont the sum of 16s/5 1/2d Statement of Accused: I reserve my defence.
