    Henry Barton, of 54 Albert Rd., residing with his parents: On 1 June the Witness slept in the same room as the Prisoner. The Witness was up first before 6 a.m. on the following morning. The handkerchief produced belongs to the Witness and was lying on the foot of the bed when he left. When the Witness went home to breakfast about 8:30 a.m. he went upstairs and missed the handkerchief. He values it at 2 shillings. William Chamberlain, Detective Sergeant of the Luton Borough Police: On 3 June when the Witness arrested the Prisoner on another charge at Fenny Stratford, he found the handkerchief produced in his possession. The Witness brought the Prisoner to Luton and charged him with stealing a handkerchief on 2 June, property of Henry Barton and worth 2 shillings and 6 pence. The Prisoner made no reply. When the Witness first arrested the Prisoner, the Prisoner stated that the handkerchief in question belonged to the lad. Statement of the Defendant Henry Osborn: “I have nothing to say. I call no witnesses.”
