Scope and Content
On 26 August 1826 John Usher died seized of:
- 1 acre 1 rood land, part of a close of pasture formerly in occupation of Elijah Fisher, then William Gutteridge, Benjamin Bunny and now of - -, to which he was admitted tenant on 3 November 1777;
- 7 acres 3 roods 3 poles in Blunham, north John Usher (freehold), part east private road, part south & remainder east next described piece of land, remainder south Samuel Sandon, west Susanna Campbell;
- piece of land (3 roods) (part of Bunnp [?] Orchard);
- 1 acre 1 rood 5 poles in North Field, north west 2nd copyhold allotment of - -, awarded to Mary Gutteridge and exchanged
to Rev William Cowling, north east private road, south east and south west College Manor awarded to said Wm Cowling;
- piece land (1 acre 1 rood 19 poles) in North Field, north Samuel Vernon Lawry, for tithes, east or north east private road, south or south east 2nd copyhold allotment to Samuel Sandon and exchanged to said William Cowling, west or south west College Manor awarded to William Cowling, to which said John Usher was admitted on 28 July 1807 on surrender of said William Cowling and wife Ann;
- 17 acres 16 poles, with cottage now standing on part thereof, to which said John Usher was admitted on 28 July 1807 on surrender of John Foster and subject to a mortgage of £800;
- messuage in Blunham lately erected by Joseph Usher (pencil note in margin "This Joseph was grandfather to W[illiam] B[ennett] U[sher]. This property is now sold away");
- pightle (as has been lately divided) adjacent to said messuage (2 roods), formerly in the occupation of John Guy, late of William How, to which John Usher was admitted on 10 Dec 1811.
John Usher by will dated 26 Aug 1826 (proved - Bedford - 16 Sept 1826) devised his Blunham property to son William Bennett Usher; now said William Bennett Usher is admitted to said premises.
