  • Scope and Content
Daniel Colburt: he had been working for Mr Wythes brick yard at Ravensden. On 8 May he was sat in his house until 12 at night. He saw Olorenshaw on the road and saw him go in the direction of Mrs Sunderland’s. He lay down behind some [?] and was there when Olorenshaw came back. Mrs Sunderland was about 500 yards from where he was. He had been about 15 yards fro Olorenshaw when he first saw him and had heard him speak to his horses. He saw Olorenshaw come back with a large bundle on his back. Olorenshaw took the bundle to his own premises and he saw him shake something into his manger. He then saw Olorenshaw bring something out of his house and give it to his horses. Colburt had lived opposite the White Lion. Isaac Harlow: Mrs Sunderland’s foreman. On 9 May he went to the hayrick and observed that the cut had been sunk about 5 inches in depth. He considered about a truss had been taken. It was neadon hay. He went with Mr Colburt to Olorenshaw’s premises and found a little bit of hay near the threshold. He found more on the chaff box. He gave the hay to Colburt and a sample from the rick to Sergeant Beach. There was no hay cut up at Olorenshaw’s and the hay stack was 20 yards from the road. Daniel Colburt: he was given some hay at Olorenshaw’s premises which he delivered to Sergeant Beach. Sergeant William Beach: he received hay from Colburt and Harlow.
