    This Indenture made the Fourteenth day of July in the Year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty one between the Reverend Edward Orlebar Smith, Vicar of the Parish of Salford in the County of Bedford James Morris, Churchwarden and Robert Nash Luck and John Morris Overseers of the poor of the same parish and John Abbott a poor child and son of William Abbott and Hannah his wife of the parish of Moulsoe in the County of Buckingham of the one part and William Burge of North Crawley in the County of Buckingham, Carpenter & joiner of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John Abbott in pursuance of an Order of the Reverend George Cardale Clerk and Reverend Philip Hunt Doctor of Laws two of His Majesty’s Justices of the peace for the said County of Bedford [order attached to this document] bearing date the sixth day of this instant month of July and by and with the consent of two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Bedford and also two of his Majesty’s Justices of the Peace in and for the said County of Buckingham whose respective names are hereunto subscribed (according to the form of the statute in that case made & provided) hath put and bound and by these presents doth put and bind himself in apprentice to the said William Burge with him to dwell and serve from the twelfth day of June now last past for and during and unto the full end and term of Seven Years. All which time the said Apprentice his said Master faithfully shall serve in all lawful businesses whatsoever according to his power, wit and ability honestly and orderly and obediently in all things behave and demean himself towards his said Master and all his during the said Term. And the said William Burge for and in consideration of the sum of Fifteen Pounds of lawful money of Great Britain to be paid to him by the said Minister Churchwarden and overseers in manner and at the times hereinafter mentioned (that is to say) the sum of Ten pounds in part of the sum of fifteen pounds at or before the sealing and delivery of these presents and the remaining sum of five pounds on or before the twelfth day of December which will be in the year of Our Lord One thousand eight hundred and twenty four Doth hereby for himself his Executors and Administrators covenant ans grant to and with the said Minister Churchwarden and overseers and each and every of their successors for the time being that he the said William Burge the said apprentice in the art or trade of carpenter and joiner which he useth shall and will teach and instruct or cause to be taught and instructed during all the time and term aforesaid and find and allow unto the said apprentice sufficient meat drink and apparel and lodging washing and all other necessaries during the said term and also shall and will so find and provide for the said Apprentice that he be not in any way a charge to the said Parish of Salford or the parishioners of the same parish but of and from all charges shall save the said parish harmless during all the said term.
