- Scope and ContentMartha Wheatley: keeper of the Greyhound public house in Park Street West, Luton. On 26 September she went to bed with the house safely locked up. She got up the next morning and found the bar window had been broken and 7 bottles, 3 ale glasses, 3 tumblers and 2 wine glasses had been stolen from the bar. The whole value was 10 shillings. PC Richard Lambert: on 16 October he went with PC John Lambert to search the prisoner’s house. He found all the articles and showed them to Mrs Wheatley, who identified them as her property. On 18 October the prisoner was charged with stealing from Mrs Wheatley and he made no reply. Sarah Townrow: she let a house in Park Lane to Thomas Standbridge. She saw where the articles were found in the house. Statement of the accused: nothing.
