  • Admin/biog history
Luton Methodist Circuit [MB1/LU1] was divided into Luton North [MB1/LN] and Luton South Circuits as from September 1965. The dividing line is the railway line - those to the east of it became the North Circuit with St Margarets as the main church, and those to the west of the line became the South Circuit with Beech Hill as the main church. Luton North and Luton South were replaced in 1987 by a second combined Luton circuit [MB1/LU2] Chapels in Luton South circuit: Aley Green; Leagrave High Street (transferred from Dunstable Circuit); Luton, Beech Hill; Luton, Farley Hill; Luton, Lewsey Friendship House (until c.1976); Luton, Mount Tabor (closed 1969, merged with Park Town and replaced by new building at Strathmore Avenue); Luton, Oakdale (formed by amalgamation of Dallow Road and Dunstable Road in 1964); Luton, Park Town (until 1971); Luton, Strathmore Avenue (replaced Park Town 1972); Slip End.
