  • Scope and Content
Thomas Tillyard of St Paul Bedford, constable no.4 of the rural police - from information received he went to Addington’s house at Wilshamstead and told him he had come for a vermin trap belonging to Mr Henman. Addington denied having one. He searched and found the trap in a cupboard. Addington then said he had had it for some time and it did not belong to Mr Henman. He took Addington with him to Henman, who identified the trap as his own. After leaving Henman’s as they were going towards Bedford Addington said he found the trap in a hedge a long way from the farm. Daniel Henman of Kempston, farmer and victualler - he knows the trap to be his property from a strain in it. It was lying behind an ash tree in a field in the parish of Kempston about 200 yards from his house. He missed it around the end of February or beginning of March. He employed Addington at the time. He missed the trap when stopping gaps in his field. The trap is worth 2s. He asked Addington if he had seen it and he said he had not.
