    William Taylor of Ampthill, tailor and draper - on 13 May he was called down from his workshop into the front one and found Hollett who enquired whether Mr Hall’s servant’s breeches were done. He said they were not but he should have them on Monday morning. He was then informed by his wife that she had seen Hollett take something and put it in his jacket. He then took hold of the Hollett who pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket. Hollett refused to give his name and he sent for Mr Bates, the police superintendent. Frances Taylor, wife of William Taylor – that morning about 8am she was in her parlour adjoining the shop and through the window saw Hollett standing in the shop. She saw him put his hand towards the window to take the handkerchief and put it in his pocket. She went into the shop and stood by Hollett until her husband came, and told him what she had seen. William Hollett – declined to say anything.
