  • Scope and Content
David Skinner - he keeps the Bull Inn at Potton. On 16 March about 11am Chamberlain came into the house and had some beer. Chamberlain was rather tipsy when he came in. He stayed until 1pm and was very disorderly and riotous the whole time. He [Skinner] was at dinner and Chamberlain took the victuals off the table. He told Chamberlain he should have no more beer and should leave. He took hold of Chamberlain gently to guide him out. Chamberlain turned round, seized him by the neck cloth, threw him down and said he would do for him if he possibly could. His brother John Skinner came to help and got Chamberlain off. They got him out of the house, but Chamberlain came back in at the back and pitched into his brother. He went for the policeman who took him into custody. From what Chamberlain said he believes he will do him some serious injury if he is not stopped. He wants Chamberlain to be bound over to keep the peace. John Skinner – what his brother said is correct. He thinks Chamberlain would have choked his brother if he had not gone to his assistance. He believes Chamberlain will injure his brother if he is not presented.
