- Scope and ContentJohn Wilmot: a schoolmaster at Cople. The previous Saturday he had seen some dough recipe that had been made at Mr Havergal’s house. They were 32 and a half pounds of dough. He saw Mr Perkins fetch the dough, which had previously been weighed. In the afternoon he was present at Mr Havergal’s when Mr Havergal charged Mr Perkins with stealing his dough. Eight loaves were returned. Perkins asked if Havergal expected as much returned as had been sent. Mr Havergal replied ‘No’. He saw some bread there which weighed 17 pound 6 ounces. A 2 pound loaf wasted 2 ounces of dough. Ann Craft: she was in the service of Mr Havergal. She saw Mr Havergal and Mr Wilmot weigh some dough. The dough weighed 32 and a half pounds. James Perkins fetched the dough to bake it. Perkins brought the loaves back. They were lightloaves. The loaves were weighed by Mr Havergal and Mr Wilmot. They weighed 17 pound 6 ounces. She had baked a 2 pound loaf that morning and wasted 2 ounces. Henry East Havergal: he saw the dough weighed as 32 pounds and 8 ounces. 17 pounds and 6 ounces of bread returned. He had allowed 5 pound 2 ounces as legitimate waste.
