    William Goodyear: on 29 September Charles Luck was in his employment. In consequence of having lost a quantity of bonnets he went with Mr Pope, on the 26 November, to the house of Sophia Morley at Leverstock Green. 3 bonnets were shown to him and they were identified as his property. Sophia Morley had said she had no bonnets in the house. She later said he brother Charles had given them to her at her mother’s house at Redbourn. She said she had not been there for 5 weeks. Sarah Allen: she kept a quantity of sewers and made bonnets for Mr Goodyear. The bonnet marked no.6 was made in her house by Ann Snoxall. It had the mark of T on it. Elizabeth Hyde: a bonnet sewer making bonnets for Mr Goodyear. The bonnet marked no.11 was made by her for Mr Goodyear some time in August. She took it with a quantity of others. Superintendent Samuel Pope: on 26 November he went with Mr Goodyear to the house of Sophia Morley at Leverstock Green. He told her he wanted the bonnets she had received from her brother, Charles Luck, at Luton. After some time she said she had 3 bonnets which her brother had given her at her mother’s house at Redbourn about 5 weeks ago. She gave him the bonnets which Mr Goodyear identified. On 29 November he took her into custody and charged her with receiving 3 bonnets from her brother Charles Luck. Morley said she did not know the bonnets were stolen when he gave them to her. He charged Charles Luck with stealing 3 bonnets. Luck said he had taken them and given them to his sister. Statement of the accused: Charles Luck – “I am guilty” Sophia Morley – “I am not guilty”
