  • Title
Letter, on headed notepaper of the London and North Western Railway, Secretary’s Office, Euston Station, London, to Messrs. Turnley and Sharman, Bedford, [solicitors], stating that they have submitted the memorial from the inhabitants of Bedford to the Directors, and while they regret the duplication of stations [Bedford LNWR and Bedford Midland] it is not the fault of the LNWR who had the necessary land and had agreed to make it available for a joint station. Reiterate argument to the mayor and other local gentlemen in previous letters that the fault lies with the Midland Railway who claimed exclusive ownership of the station to be built on the property of this Company, and as this demand could not be conceded they decided to establish a separate station. Signature illegible.
