- Scope and ContentThe Committee in making their final report to the Quarter Sessions desire to express their satisfaction with the conduct of all the officers of the prison, and especially to draw the attention of the Court to the Governor who has held that office for 25 years, during which period by his care and attention the discipline of the prison has been much improved and great economy effected in the general working. Industrial occupation was established in the prison soom after he entered on his duties, and has been continued to the present time with very satisfactory results to the County Expenditure. Sarah Rogers the Matron has resigned her office; the surgeon of the prison [R H Kinsey] certifies that she is incapable from confirmed sickness of executing the duties of her office in person. She has been 18 years an officer of the prison and teh Visiting Justices testify that her conduct during her period of service has been good and recommend that a grant be made to her of an annuity of £52 by way of superannuation allowance.
