The 72nd of the additional rules for the Government of this prison provides that the Surgeon of the Prison shall professionally attend the Governor and his family, the Matron and the subordinate officers and their families, and administer medical aid to them during illness. The non-residential subordinate officers have requested that the benefit of this rule may be extended to them; the Visiting Justices recommend that this request be complied with so far as regards the attendance of the Surgeon on these officers personally; but not as regards his attendance on their families.
