- Scope and ContentAnn Stocker, one of the female wardens had quit. They have since provisionally appointed Martha Saunderson. [Henry] Foster the engineer gave notice to quit which expired at Christmas; the Visiting Justices have appointed James Manyweathers on trial at a salary of 27 shillings per week. [Henry] Foster is 64 year of age and has been an officer of the prison for 20 years; his conduct has been good during the period of his service. The Visiting Justices recommend that a grant of £52 per annum be made to him by way of superannuation allowance. Harry Seymour, a prisoner convicted of felony at the Easter Quarter Sessions and sentenced to 12 calendar months imprisonment escaped from the prison on the night of the 28th October. He was recaptured at Lynn and brought back on 21st November; the Visiting Justices recommend that proceedings be taken against him.
