- Date free textJune 1847
- Production dateFrom: 1847 To: 1847
- Scope and Content"I beg to say that I am a young man totally destitute of friends in this part of the Country, being for some period unemployed owing to circumstances over which I had no control I have been reduced to the utmost want. I am now for the first time placed at the Bar of my Country, had this lamentable occurrence taken place in Liverpool I could have satisfied the Bench as to my consistency hitherto. I now stand before your Honorable Bench, undefended with great respect I would call your attention to the time I have been in confinement. I feel truly sorry for my past offence and can assure your Honorable Bench the lashes of my own conscience has been a severe punishment in itself. Without further trespassing upon the more important duties of the Court, I will leave the matter in your hands begging for the clemency of your most honoroble Bench."
