  • Scope and Content
    John Hill: on 14 December PC Lambert showed him a clay knife which he could swear to. It was worth 2 shillings. Benjamin Janes: he saw the clay knife in the possession of John Hill about a fortnight previous. There were 4 or 5 of the same mould. John Deacon: in the morning of 8 December the prisoner came to his house and among the old iron he brought was the clay knife. He bought it with the other iron, and gave him 10 pence. PC John Lambert: received the clay knife from Deacon and took the prisoner into custody the next day. He charged him with stealing knife but Cook said he knew nothing about it. Statement of the accused: nothing.
