- Scope and ContentNumbers of prisoners in custody 180. 70 Government Convicts have been received under sentence of penal servitude. 25 for three years, 17 gfor four years, 3 for five years, 6 for six years, 6 for seven years, 1 for eight years 10 for ten years, 1 for fourteen years and 1 for fifteen years. Of these 15 have previously been sentenced to Penal Servitude or transportation, and only 22 were not known to have been in prison before. 28 of these men came from Cold Bath prison, 7 County Gaol, Surrey, 13 Newgate, 8 Chelmsford, 3 Portsmouth, 10 Maidstone, and 1 Wisbech. three boys, George Coleman, Thomas White and John Hirdle have been removed to the Beds Reformatory. Robert Toll, Elizabeth Evans and James Burgess have been removed to convict depots, the two former to Millbank and the latter to Parkhurst by order of the Secretary of State.
