- Scope and ContentFanny Farmer: was a laundry maid at Colmworth House and missed her silver watch on 13 September about 9am. It had been in her drawer in the laundry. The drawer was not locked and she had last seen it there on the morning of 12 September. The watch was valued at £3 and was brought back to her by Mr Graham. She did not know the prisoner. She had not left the laundry until 6 or 7pm and had locked the laundry and kept the key. The windows had not been fastened. Superintendent William Byers Graham: he examined the premises at Colmworth and discovered some person had got over the fence surrounding the grounds in which the laundry stood. He discovered marks on the window sill and the ironing board convincing him a person had entered through the window. He suspected William Line and went to him at his work in Sharnbrook. He searched him and found a watch since identified by Fanny Farmer as her property. The prisoner said he bought the watch in Northamptonshire. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
