  • Scope and Content
    Charles Chapman: on 8 March the prisoner came to his shop and asked for a quarter of tea and a pound loaf of sugar. The prisoner said George Croft, under butler at Stockwood at sent him for it and it was to be put down to the under butler. He let the prisoner have the items. On 17 May he came again and said he wanted a nice rasher of bacon for George the under butler and some eggs. He let him have them. Francis Croft: under butler at Stockwood and was generally called George. He did not send the prisoner for any tea or sugar on the 8 March, nor for any bacon or eggs on 17 May. He had never sent him to Mr Chapman for anything. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
