Depositions of Thomas Marriott, brickmaker of Clapham, Thomas Brown, labourer of Bletsoe, and William Byers Graham, superintendent of police of Sharnbrook. In the case of Perry Kendall, labourer of Oakley, accused of stealing a shovel and a draining tool.

Thomas Marriott: on 1 March he put his shovel and draining tool in a hut in the parish of Oakley. He missed the tools on the 3 March. The hut was locked. Thomas Brown: the prisoner had come to see him on Tuesday week. There had been 3 of them working together gravel digging at Bletsoe. The prisoner had 3 tools on his shoulder strapped together. The prisoner asked him to buy them saying he would sell the shovel for a shilling. He gave him a shilling for the shovel and sixpence for the draining tool. The following Thursday he gave the shovel and tool to Mr Graham. Superintendent William Byers Graham: he called on Thomas Brown at Bletsoe and received from him a shovel and draining tool.
