With loose items inside: (a) Letter, Joyce Godber, Bedfordshire County Archivist, to Humphrey Whitbread regarding records found in parish. 22 February 1957. [Advice re deposit of parish registers, before Parochial Registers and Records Measure 1978, and before Beds. Record Office had been able to move to new premises with much greater capacity: '...we aim in general at not taking them after 1812, as they get so bulky for the 19th century, and after civil registration comes in are not so important....']; (b) Small tracing of glebe house garden/ curtilage boundaries; (c) Letter, Tressilian C. Nicholas, retired Senior Bursar of Trinity College, Cambridge, to Humphrey Whitbread, regarding muniments relating to Cardington at the College. 18 March 1957; (d) Letter, Evelyn C. Busby, Diocesan Secretary (St. Albans), to Humphrey Whitbread, regarding Cardington glebe. 18 March 1957; (e) Letter, Joyce Godber, Bedfordshire County Archivist, to Humphrey Whitbread, regarding Cardington records at the Record Office, with (f) small sketch extract of tithe map, showing vicarial glebe numbered 207 and 208. 4 April 1957; (g) 2 typescript copy letters, Humphrey Whitbread to Mr. H. Robertshaw, 27 Duchess Road, Bedford, and to the Rev. Peter Tubbs, The Vicarage, Cardington: notes his 1956-7 work preparing the terrier and inventory and current promise 'to repeat my former labours on the new combined form'; has original rough copies [P38/2/2/14/10 and 11] but can't find the new 'Terrier cum Inventory which I know I had started at least so far as to produce a little map of the parsonage house'; is going to Munich for a week; expects Archdeacon's Visitation soon; have either men [returned to] him the combined form? 'My papers in this flat are still in an intolerable muddle and I have not recently sorted out the various papers lying in my desk at Cardington.....' 6 March 1978.
