  • Scope and Content
Charles Chapman of Luton, grocer – he had noticed George Shun loitering about his shop for some days and had missed several pieces of bacon during the last 3 weeks. That morning about 9am Shun came in very quietly without rapping on the counter or the door. Shun had done this several times before and he had told him of it. He served Shun with the articles he asked for and noticed he seemed to be holding something under his frock. Joseph Smith, who was in the shop, told him he saw Shun take his hand from his pocket. He missed a piece of bacon which had been within a yard of where the boy was standing. He followed Shun and found the bacon under his frock.
