MILTON ERNEST: human skull found during dredging of the River Great Ouse half a mile upstream of Milton Ernest viaduct on 5 April 1972; no other bones were found despite a police search; the skull was thought to be of a male of 35 to 40 years and to have been buried for between 100 and 200 years; it was retained by the Odontology Department of London Hospital Medical College for tutorial purposes.
