SANDY: parts of 2 human skeletons and animal bones found on 26 and 27 September 1970 on a building site at New Road, Sandy; in a detailed report, the finder stated he believed the bodies to be of Roman date as Roman pottery was also found; he believed one skeleton to be a young man who had died violently - the other had a piece of metal embedded in a hole in the forehead and another in the back of the head.
