- Scope and ContentJames Addison Taylor: about 7.45pm on 21 November he was at the corner of Bute Street. He saw a mob of persons collected there throwing stones at Messrs Munt [?] & Brown’s windows. He saw the prisoner throw one. There were a great many panes of glass being smashed at that moment. Powell was about to throw another stone when Taylor caught hold of his arm. The mob collected around him and he was obliged to let Powell go as they threatened to knock him down. Taylor believed there to be nearly a thousand people in Bute Street & George Street. The mob broke a great number of windows. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
