  • Scope and Content
About getting "Topographical Antiquities from Arrowsmith” "I saw thy serious, affectionate letter to thy brother William, wish it may make a due impression. He is offered Goodman’s house at Crawley occupied by the baker, near the Church, the rent is somewhat higher but land annex’d to it makes it much cheaper in the whole .... Little William is pleased with his new School .... Local news. Difficulties with servants & housekeepers : I am to give [Stoddart's late servant] after the rate of 7 guineas, per annum without tea, .... Ann Hart comes to make beds & dress dinner ..... Is there no possibility of meeting with a sober middle aged person in our Society, possess’d of a small income who would be willing ... to be at the head of the family with board, washing & lodging (without wages) to do the little here requisite, the chief being folding & ironing, pickling & preserving, making or mending a few shirts etc., besides care that nothing be wasted or embezzled?
