    John Reynolds of Wollaston (Northants), labouer –last night he was in the public house in Podington and had a few shillings in his pocket. He left about 10pm with Richard Brown. In the street he fell down, having kicked against a stone. He lay there about 5 minutes. Brown and his grandfather Simon Brown came and took him into this house, and he slept with Simon Brown. When he was being helped into the house he thought he felt something like a hand in his pocket but took no notice of it. When he got up in the morning he felt for his money, but could not find any. He looked for it before seven this morning where he fell down in the street and could not find it. He went to the policeman and went with him to Hinwick. They saw Richard Brown digging potatoes in a garden. He saw the policeman search Brown and take some money from his pocket. He identified a shilling with a hole in it as his. He had previously said one of his shillings had a hole in the middle. He looked for the money in the street before Richard Brown was up. Richard Brown told him where he was lying down. William Green of Podington, policeman – about 8am that morning he went with Reynolds to Hinwick and searched the breeches pockets of Richard Brown. Brown said he had no money but when told he must be searched said he had 3s and 6d. He showed the money to Reynolds who said the shilling with the hole in it was his. Brown said he found the money at the end of Joseph Cox’s house. Richard Brown – says he found the money at Joseph Cox’s house end
