  • Scope and Content
Much concerned to see what the directors on the head of the treasures of your East India Company have told you, as they were dissattisfyed with me & that for this reason you drew but one thousand pounds this sale to the Company... I have payd always your own drafts as well as those which are drawn on me by your German correspondents always upon the first demand ... can't imagine from where this comes me unless it is a spleenish & scandalous trick of that director & those Dutch buyers who think it against their interest that you correspond & deal with me … my circumstances are as well as any bodys. My parents have left me a pretty good estate ... which I have increased every year. The goods which I have sold for you are sold for the highest marckett that was obtainable.... I shall not mention anything of it, elce I might have perhaps discoursed a little with Messrs. Pels about itt because the bills for your company have been in general all payable to their order . .... Be so kinde to assure Mr. Eecleston you may safely continue your dealing with me ... Sent from Amsterdam.
