- Scope and Contenti) John Gressell of Heath, Henry Emberton of ‘Browton’. ii) William Taillor, mercer, Richard Noke, John Halsey, now ‘preposite’ of church of All Saints Leighton Buzzard. (a) Tenant in prebend estate bearing sign of ‘The Bell’, 1 acre meadow at ‘Ledon’ and 20 acres arable, of which 5 acres lie in each field of said estate & 5 acres in Lekefurlong & 10 acres ‘in diversis locis ut dinoscuntur’. (b) Ten called Fysshers in said estate, late in occupation of Richard Glasyer. (Recite (i) that John Broughton esquire demised property to (i) & Thomas Palmer & Thomas Smaller ( now deceased), to use of Thomas Palmer. (2) that in his will, 7 August 1483, Thomas Palmer. assigned the 2 messuages & property as follows – (a) to son John in tail, remainder to son Henry; (b) to son Henry in tail. Proviso that if sons had no heirs, executors to sell & use proceeds for good of his soul. If executors died before this, ‘prepositi’ of Leighton Buzzard church should dispose of property. ( 3) sons died without heirs.) Witnessed : Richard Brewer, William Hethe, Robert Heth, John Hakert, John Pakeman.
