- Scope and ContentRichard Howes: farmer of Dunstable and he had missed several fowls. The fowl produced he could swear as his property by their general appearance and colour of its feathers. George King: an employee of Mr Howes and in the habit of feeding the fowls. He knew the fowl produced to be the property for Mr Howes. He knew the fowl produced to be the property of Mr Howes. He had missed it about a fortnight previous. William Strange: he had bought a fowl from George Langley on fast day, 26 April, and he gave him a whip, a small load and a penny for it. James Cooper was with him and Langley said he had given 9 pence for it. He believed the fowl produced to be the same fowl he sold to Mrs Higgs for 18 pence. Francis Higgs: she bought a fowl from William Strange on 6 May and gave him a shilling and sixpence for it. The fowl produced was the one she bought from Strange. Statements of the accused: George Langley – nothing to say. James Cooper – nothing to say.
