  • Scope and Content
    This was the second road bridge over the River Ouse in Bedford and was built in 1883-1884. The design consisted of three prefabricated ornamental wrought iron arches with a total span of 200 feet and a roadway width of 40 feet. The piers and abutments were of concrete with stone and brick facings. The bridge was reconstructed in 1991-1992 following which remains of the original structure.
