  • Scope and Content
Ralph concedes to the nuns for ever, with the agreement of his maternal aunt, the lady Guntolde, that they shall have a free right of way from the village of Harewold to their wood for themselves, their men, horses, carts and animals along Harewold Weie, beginning at the end of the village of Harewold by the house of Willliam Sperwer by the main road northwards, and then towards Swaneton until it reaches the great field of the nuns which is on Wighephikel. Then the way decreases to a width of 10 feet running between the cultivated fields of the nuns and the lands of Ralph and Guntolde to the head of the Long Hedge, that is 5 feet from the nuns’ land and 5 feet from the land of Ralph and Guntolde, and from the head of the Long Hedge the way continues of the same width along the boundary until it reaches the way which runs along the bottom of the valley and leads to Swaneton.
