- Scope and ContentArthur Wright: he lent a saw and fillister to George Toyer about a month previous. He saw a plane plying outside the shop with 5 planes of Toyer’s. He identified the saw and fillister as his when shown them by the police. He valued them at 21shillings and 6 pence. George Toyer: he identifying the saw and fillister as belonging to Arthur Wright. They were in his keeping on 10 November as Wright had lent them to him. They had been safe at 12 noon and he missed them about 6.30pm. He gave the information to the police. He saw the fillister at 9.30 the same night outside the shop door. It had not been there at 6.30pm. He saw the saw at the police office the next day. Sidney Harris: Pedder came to the pawn shop about 7.50pm. Pedder wanted to pledge a saw. He told Pedder that it was too late that night. He called Pedder back, thinking something was wrong but Pedder did not come. Charles Smith: on 11 November he charged the prisoners together with theft. Pedder said he had taken the saw to pledge but he had been too late and had gone to Boyle Street and then Kirby’s in burr Street, but Kirby had not been home. Garner said nothing. He found the saw in Hardwick’s house when he apprehended Garner. He received the fillister from Wright. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
