- Scope and ContentMaria Walton: on 27 September the prisoner came in the shop and asked for a pennyworth of bread. He gave her a shilling to pay for it. She gave him 11d in change. He said to her that she was cheating herself and she replied that she was to and the change was correct. He then said he had a lot of coppers and would like to pay for the bread with a penny. He asked for his shilling back, which she gave him. He then asked for a 2 shilling piece for the shilling and the coppers. She did not have a 2 shilling piece and said so. He said to her that 2 shillings pieces would do. Her daughter, who was in the next room, called to her that he had a shilling too much. With that he picked up the 2 shillings and left.
