Certificate of Chargeability by Bedford Board of Guardians stating that Samuel Burnaby and Margaret his wife had become chargeable on 2nd March 1846. Signed Charles Longuet Higgins, Chairman, and Samuel Wing, Clerk. Information and complaint of Edward Peacock, Overseer of Keysoe requesting the removal of Samuel Burnaby and Margaret his wife as they were chargeable to the parish but had no settlement there. Examinations taken by Samuel Wing: Settlement Examination of Samuel Burnaby of the parish of Keysoe: I am about 54 years of age and was married to my wife Margaret formerly Margaret York, spinster in the parish church of Yielden in this County in the month of April 1820. When I was about 14 years of age I was bound apprentice by covenant Indenture (duly stamped) by and with the consent of my father John Burnaby of Irthlingborough in the County of Northampton, Feltmonger, to Benjamin Charles of the parish of Yielden, carpenter, deceased, for the term of seven years for a premium of £16. The Indenture was duly executed by my said Master and myself and witnessed by Mr Saunderson of Wellingborough, deceased. The Indenture was given to me by my Master after the expenditure of my term of apprenticeship and I have now lost it. I have not been avle to find it, I have not seen it for several years. I served the whole time of my apprenticeship with my said Master under the said Indenture and resided all the time in my said Masters house in the said parish of Yielden. I have done no act since to gain a settlement elsewhere. I am residing in the parish of Keysoe in the County of Bedford and am receiving relief. I and my wife are the persons named in the Certificate of Chargeability now produced by Mr Samuel Wing. Memorandum that copies of the above papers were delivered to Thomas Eades, Overseer of Yielden when Samuel Burnaby and his wife Margaret were removed there by W B Graham, Superintendant of Police, Sharnbrook.
