reciting that William Pinkeneye of Bydenham granted him by deed and confirmation
... 3 roods meadow except 5 feet in Brdemade in Bydenham, which the heirs of Hamund formerly held in the Gores of that meadow, according to the tenor of a certain charter
Nicholas acknowledges that he is bound by the same charter for himself and his heirs to produce every Sunday at Bydenham church of St.James a white loaf of wheat flour of the price of one penny, in order to acquit the parishioners of Bydenham of a custom which was demanded and observed of “panis benedictus”. Also to acquit all parishioners of 2½d which they had to give every Monday in Whitsun week for beating the bounds (“processione”) of the same village to the prebend of the chapel of St.Mary of Bedford. Power of distraint to the “conservators” of the church, and of appeal to the bishop or archdeacon
