- Scope and ContentCertificate of removal for William Watts and Susannah his wife from Pavenham to Gamlingay. Certificate of chargeability William Watts and Susannah his wife chargeable from 14th September 1844. Stephen Hulatt, Overseer of the Poor for Pavenham staiting he was recodin on oath the statement of William Watts and Susannah his wife. Examination of William Watts at present residing in Pavenham: I am 59 years of age and was married to my wife Susannah formerly Susannah Brown, spinster, in the parish church of Pavenham in this County 38 years ago next Christmas. I am a settled inhabitant of the parish of Gamlingay in the County of Cambridge. At Gamlingay Statute which was held a short time before Michaelmas 1805 being an unmarried person without child or children I was hired into the parishof Gamlingay in the County of Cambridge by Mr James Parsons of the same parish, farmer, as his horsekeeper for one year to commence from Old Michaelmas day in the same year at the wages of £9 and my board and lodging. My Master when he hired me allowed me one or two days holiday and from the expiration of the one or two days I entered Mr Parsons service as agreed upona day or two after Old Michaelmas Day 1805 and I continued and abided in the same service for the space of one whole year until Old Michaelmas day 1806 and during the whole period of my said service I resided and inhabited in the same parish of Gamlingay with my said Master. I am now inhabiting with my said wife in the parish of Pavenham in the County of Bedford and am releived in money and food atthe charge of the said parish of Pavenham to the amount of 2 shillings and 11 pence halfpenny per week, and I and my said wife are the persons mentioned in the Certificate of Charegability now produced. I have done no act to my knowledge to gain a settlement elsewhere. Memorandum that the documents above were sent to Gamlingay 25 September 1844.
