    Roll 60a Wyllyngton View of Frankpledge with Court of Lady Katherine Duchess of Norfolk held there on Monday next after the feast of St Luke the Evangelist [18th October] in the xxjo [21st] year of the reign of King Edward iiijti [4th] [22nd October 1481] Essoins Thomas Barly, John Style Constables and Tasters of Ale Henry Parker and John Yarewey the younger, sworn men Heads of Tithings Sworn men John Yerewey the elder John Bardole John Morborne John Norres the elder John Flawnders William Flawnders Thomas Flawnders John Vyrgelotte Thomas Tyler’ William Fyll Thomas Baylmond John Rozal, warenner Common fine vjs xjd [6s 11d] Who say on their oath that they gave vjs xjd [6s 11d] to the lady as common fine on this day Amercements vjd [6d] And they present that the Prior of of Newnham iiijd [4d], Richard Lacy (annotation illegible) owed suit [of court] and made default. Therefore they are amerced Amercement viijd [8d] Also they present that Henry Parker iiijd [4d] assaulted William Jerman and drew blood from him, against the peace of the lord King. Therefore he is amerced. Also they present that Margeret Norres ijd [2d] assaulted Richard Lacy, and Thomas Flawnders ijd [2d] from the council on Alicia Patryche therefore they are amerced. Amercement xvjd [16d] Also they present that Agnes Pares iiijd [4d], Alice Yarewey iiijd [4d], Agnes Bull ijd [2d] were common brewers of ale and sold against the assize. Therefore they are amerced. Also they present that John Gosson vjd [6d] trapped ij [2] hens belonging to John Morborne, therefore he is amerced. Penalties pending Also they present that John Yarwey alias the said Clerk, John Norreys the elder, John Bardoll, Thomas Hewatte, and William Fyll ought to clean their ditches near their holdings before the feast of the Purification of Saint Mary [2nd February] under a penalty for each of xijd [12d]. Also it was ordered by all the tenants that each tenant should drain his land in The Dolefield that has his water flowing, before the feast of Saint Nicholas the Bishop[6th December] under a penalty for each of xxd [20d]. The great enquiry, sworn men John Warner Simon Benet George Claydon William Pecke William Fezant Thomas Myton William Jerman William Dyette John Yarewey, alias Clerk William Yarewey Thomas Hewatte John Pecke Who present that the Tithing Men, Constables and Tasters of Ale presented well and faithfully and concealed nothing, and furthermore said that all was well. Handing over John Pecke came to this Court and took from the lady j [1] messuage and x [10] acres of land and appurtenances lately in the holding of John Odyll, to hold for the term of his life according to the custom of the manor, rendering xs [10s] a year to the lady at the usual terms there and suit of Court. And [there is] no permission for the said John Pecke, to let the any of the said messuage with its appurtenances without the lady’s permission. And the said John will sustain repair and maintain the said messuage at his own cost and expense, except that as and when it becomes necessary for repairs, he will take from the lady, through her assigns, timber, withies and laths. And he gave ij [2] chickens or ijd [2d] as entry fine and made fealty. Handing over Wlliam Yarewey came to this Court and took from the lady j [1] Toft and x [10] acres of land and appurtenances lately belonging to John Cook, to have and to hold for the term of his life according to the custom of the manor, rendering to the lady vjs viijd [6s 8d] a year at the usual terms there and suit of Court. And [there is] no permission for the said William to demise the any of the said toft or any of its appurtenances without the lady’s permission. And he gave ij [2] chickens or ijd [2d] as entry fine and he made fealty and was admitted as tenant. Handing over And John Waren’ came to this Court and took from the lady j [1] messuage [annotated held by hi] with x [10] acres of land and appurtenances. To have and to hold himself and his wife Matilda and their assigns at the will of the lady, according to the custom of the manor. Rendering to the lady xs [10s] a year at the usual terms there and suit of Court. And there is no permission for the said John, his wife and assigns to demise any of the said messuage with its appurtenances without the lady’s permission. And the said John will sustain, repair and maintain the said messuage with its appurtenances at his own expense and cost except as and when it is necessary to take timber, withies and laths from the lady and [her] assigns. And he gave j [1] capon to the lady as entry fine and made fealty and was admitted as tenant. Deliveries of timber and underwood The bailiff was ordered to make deliveries of timber for the repair of the pigsty in the holding of Thomas Yarewey. And j [1] Bordlogge to repair the doors and windows of j [1] hall called Tyledhalle in the holding of Margeria Myton. And two roods of underwood to repair one stable in the holding of John Yarewey alias Clerk.
