- Scope and ContentRemoval Order for Thomas Rust. Removed from Wilden to Eaton Socon. Certificate of Chargeability: from 11 May 1844. Examination of John Sabey, Overseer of WIlden. Complains Thomas Rust has come to inhabit the parish of Wilden, not having gained any legal settlement there. Examination of Thomas Rust, at present residing in the workhouse of the Bedford Union: I am about 40 years of age. On Bedford Fair Day (which is held the day after Old Michaelmas Day) in the year 1829 being an unmarried person without child or children I was hired into the parish of Eaton Socon in the County of Bedford by Mr David Lamb of that parish, farmer, to serve him as a servant in husbandry for one year from the said Bedford Fair Day until Old Michaelmas Day 1830 at the wages of nine pounds and my board and lodging. My Master when he hired me gave me half a crown earnest money and allowed me a days holiday and on the following day I entered my said Masters service as agreed upon and continued and abided in the same service for the space of one whole year. I resided and inhabited in the said parish of Eaton Socon forn 40 days and upwards during the whole period of my service under the said hiring. I am now relieved in the workhouse o f the Bedford Union at the charge of the parish of Wilden in the County of Bedford and am actually chargeable to the same parish and am the person mentioned in the certificate now produced. When I left Mr Lamb's service at Old Michaelmas Day 1830 as above mentioned, I went to my father's house in Wilden where I slept on the night of Old Michaelmas Day. I left my clothes at Mr Lambs. Omn thef following but one day - 13th October 1830 Mr Lamb came to me at Wilden and hired me again until Old Michaelmas Day Following viz. 11th Oct 1831. I served Mr Lamb until Old Michaelmas Day 1832. A day or two before Old Michaelmas Day 1832 being still unmarried and without any child or children I again hired myself to Mr David Lamb from Old Michaelmas Day 1832 to Old Michaelmas 1833 and I served under the last mentioned hiring during the whole period for which I was thereby hired and during the whole of that service I resided in the said parish of Eaton Socon. I am still unmarried. General Quarter Sessions order dated 15 January 1828 quashing removal order for Thomas Rust from Wilden to Ravensden dated 4 December 1827. Theed Pearse, Clerk of the Peace. Memorandum dated 1 June 1844 that orders forwarded to the Overseers of Eaton Socon with annotated report stating that Thomas Rust was delivered up to Mr William Hedding, Overseer of the parish of Eaton Socon Tuesday 25th June 1844
