  • Scope and Content
Laura Kate North: resided at 5 Melson Street, Luton with her parents. On 13 November at 4.30pm she was in Dunstable Road. She saw Moses Gregory come through the gap in the hedge. Whilst crossing the road he made himself indecent. He came across and jumped before her so that she would see him. He said "here, I want you" and took her round the neck and threw her down. She got up with difficulty and he threw her down again. Her hair came down and her hat came off. He would not let her go and was acting indecently all the time. She screamed “murder”. He tried to put his hand up her clothes. At last he ran through the gate. She recognized him again in the street the following Monday and gave the information to the police. PC James Clarke: he apprehended the prisoner on a warrant. In reply to a question put to him by his father, the accused replied that they was nobody but him and the girl in the road. On the way to the station Gregory said he did not know how he came to do it and he had never sent he girl before. Statement of the accused: nothing to say.
