Scope and Content
Deed Poll: Gift (dedi,concessi et confirmavi) from Thomas atte Grene of Eaton Bray (Eyton') to Thomas atte Bury of Totternhoe of:
(a) messuage with land adjoining and all its appurtenances which lies in North Street,Totternhoe (vico del North' de Toternho)
between the tenement of Walter le Clerk and the tenement and land of William le Rede and his wife Joan, late of Thomas
le Rede, and abuts, towards the West, on the common street of the vill of Totternhoe (super communem stratam ville de Toternho).
(b) 7 1/2 acres of land and meadow - land with appurtenances lying (particulariter iacent') in the fields and meadow - lands of
Totternhoe and Eaton Bray viz.
-1/2 acres in the North Field (campo de North') in Carnforlong next to land of Alice atte Grene on the North side
-1/2 acres lying lengthwise (in longenutine (?)) next to land of Ely Em / Gin (?) on the East side (ex parte del est)
-1 acre in Erchenden, a headland (forera), next to land of John Russell junior on the North side
-1/2 acre at Estdyches in the said field next to land of Crach (?) (Crachi) of Eaton on the West side
-1 rod there next to land late of Ralph Godard on the East side
-1 acre in South Field (campo de south') at Hetheneburyeles next to the royal highway (Regiam viam) called Ikenyldstrat on
the North side and abutting, towards the East, on a road which leads to (ducit apud) Dunstable
-1/2 acres on le schorte...nne(?) next to land of John atte Welle on the West side and abutting, towards the East, on land late of
Peter Spyleman
-1 rod on Bradeweyhull next to charity / alms lands (terras elemosinas) of the Priory (prioratus) house of Dunstable on the North side
-1/2 acres in Bradewey furlong on the East side next to land of William le Peddere on the North side and abutting, towards the East, upon a headland of land of John de Eglemond
- 1 rod in the said furlong (cultura) next to land of Richard le Doumbe on the South side and abutting, towards the East, on the
aforesaid headland
- 1 rod on Stoneydye next to land of Robert Cawdowyne on the North side and abutting, towards the East, on land late of Hugh Harlewyne
-1 rod upon Langefurlong next to land late of Ralph Godard on the East side and abutting, towards the South, on land of John Inge
-1 rod lying 'into ton' furlong' next to land of William le Ne'man on the West side and abutting, towards the North, on the royal
highway which is called Akemanestrate
-1 acre of meadow - land in Bekesmede next to a meadow of John Brekebech, to be taken from each side alternately year
by year (ex ut' parte alternatim annuatim capiend'), and abutting, towards the East, on a croft of William Beek
-1 rod of meadow - land in the said meadow next to a meadow late of Peter Spileman on the North side and abutting on the flowing stream (rivulum currentem) towards Schoybrook
- 1 rod of meadow - land in Toternhofennemede next to a meadow of John de Eglemond on the West side and abutting, towards the North, upon the meadow (?) of Stanbridge (Stanbrygge)
Habendum: to Thomas atte Bury his heirs and assigns freely, lawfully, and by inheritance (libere iure et hereditarie) forever, to be held of the chief lord of the fee etc.*
Warranty clause: 'contra omnes gentes' etc.
