    Roll 50a, Cardington View of Frankpledge with Court of lady Katherine Duchess of Norfolk held there on Saturday next after the Feast of saint Michael the Apostle in the second year of the Reign of King Edward the fourth [2nd October, 1462] Essoins Simon Carter of the community through Thomas Fox The constable and Tithing men Amercement xviijd [18d] Thomas Gardyner, constable, Thomas Redyng, Simon Smyth, William Bawdewyn, John Crygman, William Bede Warner, Thomas Fox, John Coby, John Horne, Thomas Blythe, Henry Baker, William Spencer, John Neweman, John Bole, Heads of Tithings Sworn there, present [that] the Prior of Newnham iiijd [4d], Reginald [annotated came afterwards] Boteler, Thomas Baston ijd [2d] owed suit and have not come. Therefore they are amerced. Assault with a knife worth iiijd [4d] And the vicar of the same xijd [12d] assaulted William Spencer with one knife called a Harvestknife, worth iiijd [4d] and drew blood from him against the lady’s peace. Therefore he is amerced. Penalty pending Also they present that Thomas Vyntere should clear one ditch at West Lane. And the aforesaid Thomas is ordered to clear the ditch before the feast of all saints next following, and it was given to him. And that John Fyll, Thomas Fox, and John have until the vigil of the next feast of all saints, to clear their ditches at West Lane, under a penalty for each of them of vjd [6d] to be forfeited to the lady. And that William Bawdewyn should clear one ditch at Warner Lane before the aforesaid feast under the same penalty. Penalty forfeited iiijd [4d] Also they present that John Fyll has not cleared [?] his ditch on the Kings Road at West Lane End, as he was ordered at the last View. Therefore he incurs the penalty of iiijd [4d]. Therefore he was ordered that he should clear it before xv [15] days under the penalty of vjd [6d] to be forfeited to the lady. Penalties owed William Spencer, William Blounham, Robert Neweman owed to the lady [illegible].
